Food & Drink
With Baylor, McLennan Community College, and Texas State Technical College in town, Waco has plenty of students looking for a good table and a long-lasting coffee. Not every café wants laptop campers, though. Here is what to check.
What to look for
- Hours: many cafés close mid-afternoon. Check before you plan an evening session.
- Seating: large tables and counter seats work better than lounge chairs.
- Outlets and Wi-Fi: ask staff — we only list these when the owner confirms them.
- Noise: weekday mornings are usually quieter than weekends.
- Etiquette: buy something every couple of hours and give up big tables at lunch rush.
Other quiet places to work
Waco-McLennan County Library branches and campus libraries offer free, quiet space and Wi-Fi for card holders and students.
