Visit
Baylor University shapes Waco's calendar. On big weekends, hotels sell out, restaurants fill up, and traffic near the river slows down. Here is how to enjoy them — or plan around them.
Football at McLane Stadium
McLane Stadium sits on the Brazos River just off I-35. Fans walk in from campus, park in nearby lots, and some even arrive by boat. Arrive early, check the stadium's bag policy, and expect heavy traffic for an hour or more after the game.
Basketball and other sports
Baylor plays basketball at the Foster Pavilion, close to downtown, and hosts baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and more throughout the year. Many of these games are easy, affordable outings for families.
Homecoming
Baylor Homecoming is one of the oldest in the country and is a big weekend for the whole city, usually including a parade through downtown. Check Baylor's official pages for this year's dates.
Graduation weekends
Commencement in May and December brings thousands of families to town. Book hotels and restaurant tables well ahead.
Walking the campus
On a quiet day the campus is a pleasant walk. Stop by Fountain Mall, Founders Mall, and the Bill & Eva Williams Bear Habitat.
